I am the Bishops House Mouse. This House is called Bishops House
It was called Bishops House because 2 brothers in the family became bishops. John who became Chaplain to Henry VII and bishop of Salisbury and Geoffrey who became Bishop of Litchfield and Coventry. Our family has been in Norton Lees for hundreds of years before the Blythes moved in 1377. The Blythes were good for us mice as they always had plenty food and not so many servants that would see us and chase us away. They were dairy farmers so always plenty of cheese. They also made scythes and so made money both from the farm and the smithy. To find out about the House look up their website . The best way is to come and look yourself.
Very imformative.
Maybe a good idea to email the schools in the Sheffield area with a link of this blog….good history teachers would only be to keen to show there pupils something of this history right on there doorstep.
